We spend time understanding the place before we create from it.

Every object begins with people.
The artisans, workshops, perfumers, weavers, printers and makers whose knowledge has been shaped over years, often generations.
Their contribution does not disappear behind the finished object.
It remains part of where it comes from.

One Place. Two Expressions.

A place can be understood in many ways.

I grew up between Russian and Dutch cultures, where art, ballet, and classical music shaped my appreciation for beauty from an early age. As a teenager, I discovered my first passion for craftsmanship by altering my own clothes, which helped me develop an eye for proportion, detail, and quality. Over time, that curiosity evolved into a simple belief: the things we surround ourselves with should not only look beautiful but also make us feel better. Today, my creative vision is defined by natural materials, thoughtful craftsmanship, and timeless design.

I was born in India and have lived across different parts of the world. For nearly two decades, my work has centred on understanding people—the cultures they belong to and the stories that shape them. I’ve always been drawn to beauty in all its forms. Wherever I travelled, I found myself collecting objects with meaning—textiles, art, books, and everyday pieces that carried the spirit of a place. Over time, those collections led to a simple realisation: the world is rich with extraordinary cultures, remarkable craftsmanship, and ways of making that deserve to be understood. That belief became the foundation of Kala Huis.
